Some Thoughts On Homosexuality

It is Saturday and I just witnessed something that got me thinking.  Thinking so much that I even had a little conversation with my 9 year old son.  Some people might be surprised that I had such a conversation with him, but the way things are headed in our culture I think it is time to speak openly and truthfully with him.

I was sitting at the McDonalds in Walmart spending some time with my boy when I looked up and noticed a couple at the express check out.  My first thought was "just another couple" but something caught my attention that made me do a double take.

I can't say that it wasn't to my surprise, I've seen it before, but the couple was two girls.  What made do a double take was due to the fact that one of the girls was very pretty and dressed real nice, the way a lady should be, but the other was dressed in baggy jeans with a chain, an oversized t-shirt and a baseball cap cocked to the side.  In essence, she was dressed like a guy but much too pretty to be a guy.  It was obvious they were a couple due to the small kisses and affectionate gestures being made by the guy want-to-be.

Not really a too unusual sight today to be honest.  This isn't the first time I've seen a couple of openly gay women, but what got me to thinking was the fact that every lesbian couple I have seen here in Kingman seems to understand the true nature of sexual relationships.

What do I mean by this?  There always seems to be a very masculine guy-like-girl with an obvious girly-girl, and I began to ask myself why that is.

I know that there are gay couples who don't follow the guy/girl pattern, but from my experience, and I admit it is very limited, this seems to be the norm and not the exception.  This tells me that, at least in the case of those I have seen, they understand that in relationships there should be a masculine figure and a femine figure.  It is for this reason that I say they have virtually made an agrument against whatever justification they have for their relationship.  They are blatanly going against their God given nature.

True homosexuals shouldn't have this idea that a realtionship should maintain the "antiquated idea" that there needs to be someone taking on the masculine role and someone taking on the feminine role.  I know this argument is speaking to those practicing homosexuality in such a manner, but as I said above, from what I've seen, this type of relationship seems to be the norm of homosexuality.

Paul was pretty clear about homosexuality in Romans chapter 1.  He said:

The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.

Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.
